Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Programs

The USDA Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program provides students with a fresh fruit or vegetable snack during the school day.  The program helps increase the consumption of a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, creates a healthier school environment and positively impacts family eating habits.

Flat Rock Elementary School received a USDA Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program grant for the 2012-2013 school year.  The grant is coordinated by Child Nutrition Services.  A fresh fruit and vegetable snack is provided for students three - five days each week.  Snacks will be eaten in the classroom and children are encouraged to try the snack each day.
