All elementary schools in the Surry County School System are accepting kindergarten registration for children who are 5 years old on or before August 31, 2020. Ms. Kristin Blake, principal at Shoals Elementary, began her career as a Kindergarten teacher. Upon finishing graduate school at UNC-Pembroke she moved into administration. She has served 12 years as an assistant principal, the last five of those in Surry County at Dobson Elementary and Franklin Elementary. Ms. Blake spends her free time traveling with her family, reading, and socializing with friends. Ms. Blake is excited to be a part of the Shoals Elementary family and assist with their continued success.
Mrs. Martha Arrington, assistant principal at Shoals Elementary, began her career as a physical education and health teacher. Most recently, she has been a part of the administration team at North Surry High School. She is currently pursuing her Master of School Administration degree from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro through the PPEERS (Principal Preparation for Excellence and Equity in Rural Schools) program, and she will complete her degree in May. Mrs. Arrington is married and has one daughter, AnnaPaige. Mrs. Arrington is excited about this opportunity and looks forward to joining the Shoals family and community.
