Pilot Mountain Middle School STEM Career Research, 2016
An Enhanced Learning Mini-Grant Project
Annie East, Teacher
The project involves using a digital microscope to increase the knowledge of biology related careers and provide tactile activities for 7th grade STEM projects. The goals of the project are to increase student awareness of the diverse careers involving STEM, to help remove the misconception that STEM careers are designed for certain populations, and to create an atmosphere that promotes STEM-related careers as viable career options.
Please view the presentation, Medical Scientist, presented by two students in Mrs. Annie East's class at Pilot Mountain Middle. The presentation includes photos taken from the microscope. Mrs. East explains, "Each time (the microscope) has been used the students are very excited about the fact that they could take pictures and include them in their presentation." Mrs. East continues, "I would like to thank everyone for the opportunity you are giving teachers to enhance their students' learning experience with the mini-grants."
