    FFA Chapter Participates in State FFA Livestock Evaluation Event

    Livestock Evaluation Career Development Event on December 1, 2022 in Raleigh, North Carolina. This event is sponsored by the North Carolina Cattlemen’s Association and the Wilkes Community College Animal Science Department. Senior Team members included Ava Reese Branch, Braylon Hannon, Joe Frank Seal, and Scotland Rawley. Junior Team members were Jazmin Jeronimo de la Cruz, Miles Payne, and Cheyenne Rippey.

  • Surry Central High School Hosts Poultry Lab Ribbon Cutting

    On Monday, September 19, 2022, the Surry County School system and Wayne Farms celebrated the completion of the Poultry Lab at Surry Central High School. This ribbon cutting marks a new era for the Poultry Lab at Surry Central and the continued partnership between Surry County Schools and Wayne Farms.

  • Surry County Schools Gives Teachers Choice in Professional Development

    On Friday, September 16, 2022, Surry County Schools hosted a Differentiated Professional Development event at Meadowview Magnet Middle School from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. All secondary education and elementary teachers not involved in Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (LETRS) training attended.

  • Surry County Schools CTE Team Member Earns Regional Honor

    Wednesday, July 20, 2022 was a great day for Career and Technical Education (CTE) in Surry County! Mrs. Paula Brinkley, CTE Instructional Management Coordinator for Surry County Schools, was chosen to represent the Piedmont-Triad as Curriculum and Instruction Management Coordinator of the Year during the 2022 CTE Summer Conference.

  • Surry County Schools Welcomes New Director of Finance

    Surry County Schools is excited to welcome Mrs. Audra Chilton as the district’s new Director of School Finance. Chilton will be responsible for all district finances including payroll, accounts payable and receivable, all state and federal reporting, and the development of the district’s annual budget. Chilton will be providing a combination of deep industry knowledge, relevant experience, and financial acumen to the role.

  • Annual MAD Dash 5K Returns

    The Ninth Annual MAD Dash 5K raised over $20,000 for Surry County School System students and teachers. The race held on Saturday, April 23, 2022, and hosted by the Surry County Schools Educational Foundation, had over 450 participants racing through the streets of Dobson, NC, with hundreds more volunteers and spectators cheering them on! This is the first return to the race’s Dobson route since 2019.

  • 2023-2024 School Calendar Feedback is Open Now!

    The Surry County Board of Education has accepted multiple draft calendars for public comment for the 2023-2024 school year. Start dates include August 10, 2023, August 14, 2023, and August 28, 2023. These calendars are available for public comment and those who wish to contribute feedback are encouraged to fill out the attached Google form or contact the Surry County Schools Administrative Offices at (336)386-8211.
