The purpose of new teacher services is to improve student academic achievement and to reduce new teacher anxiety. To accomplish this purpose, it is our goal to help beginning, lateral entry, and experienced teachers new to our school system acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to experience a successful beginning in the Surry County School System.
New Teacher Services are designed to provide new teachers with the general knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed for effective teaching. Services are available for new teachers to the Surry County School System in the following areas:
- Classroom Management
- Professionalism
- Curriculum and Instruction
We believe services for new teachers will facilitate the development of new teachers and enhance ongoing student achievement by striving to meet the following goals:
- To improve student achievement and the retention of promising beginning teachers.
- To share the culture of the Surry County School System.
- To encourage and work collaboratively with community and business partners to provide resources and incentives.
