May 11 was a day of celebration for reaching goals for several Migrant Education Program students at North Surry High School. They completed reading Esperanza Rising in both English and Spanish! Tutor Jonathan Lancho Villa and MEP Recruiter/Support Specialist Gerardo Linares worked with the group weekly from February and will continue throughout the year. The student increased their English while reading for comprehension in both English and Spanish.
May 3, 2018 At 8:30 on this morning, students, teachers, central office administrators, and school board members filled the gym at North Surry High School and waited patiently for the arrival of Mrs. Paige Badgett, school principal. They all knew something that she did not know. They knew she received one of the top honors in the Surry County School district. As Mrs. Badgett entered the gym, she was greeted by music from the NSHS drum line and loud cheers from the audience as superintendent Dr. Travis Reeves made
North Surry’s singing group, Greyhound Sounds, received high marks in a recent performance here. The group earned all Superior ratings at the N.C. High School Choral Music Performance Adjudication at Wake Forest University on March 9. According to the N.C. Music Educator Association, each large ensemble was required to perform two selections for evaluation if entering in Grades II to VI. At least one selection must have come from an approved list, with the second choice expected
