Thumbs Up to Surry County Schools

"Hey Mrs Templeton. I hope you and your family are doing well.  I just wanted to touch base with you and let you know how much my family and I appreciate everything that you and the teachers are doing. I know this is a tough time for everybody but I just feel like you and you and your staff have gone above and beyond to help my children learn and we we couldn’t be more grateful. Thank you and I hope you have a blessed weekend." Kelly Oakley, parent of Dobson Elementary students

"Dr. Reeves, I have friends and family from multiple states and different parts of NC. Many are teachers as well as having school age children. From what I hear from them, Surry County is by far above and beyond every single one of those school systems in your very quick - amazingly quick! - response to the children’s needs with food, computer loaning, WiFi access, learning materials, teachers calling each student/family to check in and keeping kids enriched and engaged.  It is truly remarkable! The compassion and consideration toward what is most important- one’s wellness and knowing they are cared for, loved and remembered during this time - is amazing. And to not skip a beat by rolling out online learning so quickly to keep these young minds growing is so appreciated. I commend you and every member of your Surry County school staff. I hope you and your family are well! Take care."  Beth Windsor, parent of students at Shoals Elementary, Meadowview Magnet Middle, and East Surry High

"Hello, we are the parents of Yael and we want to give thanks ️ to all of you teachers, teacher assistants, to the people who got up to prepare food for the children, regardless of their race or color, to the schools' principals and assistant principals. to all staff,l to the teacher Gerardo and his wife that day after day they are helping all of us who do not speak the English language, to understand what the teacher of my children are telling us.

Although they (staff mentioned before) are at home with their family, they took their time each day to be with our children. I am very grateful to each and every one of you,  a round of applause from us, I hope one day I can give you thanks in person. I only ask God and the Virgin to take care of you and your families. Thank you to all the bus drivers that brought lunch for the children every day and made it possible for children to have something on the table. We never forget that ️ God bless you!"  Parents of Yael Olascoaga
