Amy Clement

Surry County Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Amy Clement as the new principal of Cedar Ridge Elementary School. A dedicated educator with more than two decades of experience in Surry County Schools, Clement brings a deep-rooted passion for student success and a strong commitment to the community she calls home.

A proud product of Surry County Schools, Clement graduated from Surry Central High School in 2000. She went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Lees-McRae College and a Master’s degree in Reading Education from Appalachian State University.

Clement began her career in education in 2004 and served for 17 years as an elementary teacher at both Shoals Elementary and Franklin Elementary. She is especially known for her strong background in math instruction and her ability to engage students at all levels. In 2021, she transitioned into school leadership as Assistant Principal at Franklin Elementary School, where she has consistently demonstrated her ability to lead with compassion, integrity, and a focus on student achievement.

A highly respected educator across the district, Clement is recognized for her thoughtful, detail-oriented leadership style and her natural ability to connect with staff, students, and families. The interview committee was particularly impressed by her instructional leadership, deep understanding of elementary initiatives, and her commitment to student-centered decision making.

Clement expressed her excitement about the opportunity to lead Cedar Ridge Elementary: “I am honored and incredibly excited to join Cedar Ridge Elementary School as the new principal.  This school has a strong tradition of excellence, and I am eager to build on that foundation by working together with students, staff, families, and the community.  I believe in creating a positive, inclusive environment where all students and staff feel valued and empowered to succeed.”
