From April 30th to May 2nd, a group of 48 students from Surry Early College High
School of Design took an exciting trip to Pennsylvania. While in the city of Philadelphia,
they took a guided walking tour, exploring more than 20 of the most iconic historic sites
in America’s birthplace including the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. They finished
the day at a major league baseball game between the Philadelphia Phillies and the
Washington Nationals.
The adventure didn’t stop there. The students traveled to Lancaster County to learn
about Amish culture by visiting farmlands, a replica Amish house, and a school. They
also toured the Hershey Chocolate Factory, stepped onto the battlefield at Gettysburg,
and explored the scenic and historic Harpers Ferry National Historical Park. It was a
memorable trip packed with history, culture, and fun!
