On Friday, April 17th, Surry Early College High School of Design students Alex Villasenor and Sarai LLamas competed in the SECHSD YES Surry Entrepreneurship Competition. This competition allows young entrepreneurs to compete for prize money to be invested in their business projects.

Sarai Llamas, a 9th-grade student, won the Proposed Business category. She is in the planning stages of launching her business, Crochet Empire. She has up to 5 years to apply to receive $500 to launch her business.

Alex Villasenor is a 12th-grade student who won the Current Business category. He received a $500 check that he may use to continue operating his business, Hope and Healing through Cocoa and Courage.

Both students will advance to the countywide competition, which will be held in May.
