On Wednesday, winners of the Superintendent's Art Contest in March were treated to a field trip reward for all of their hard work! The day consisted of African Drum lessons provided by Living Rhythms, a tour of the Andy Griffith Playhouse and Museum, and an art workshop! 🪘🎨🎭

❄️WES presents our PTO Winter Music Performance “Walking in the Winter Wonderland.” On Tuesday, January 30th, Kindergarten and 1st Grade students will perform at 1:30pm and 6pm.❄️
-The 1:30 performance will involve a story walk, through the halls of our school, In a Winter Wonderland. Immediately following the walk, we will go to the Gymnasium for the rest of the performance. Please meet in the school cafeteria to begin the walk.❄️
-The 6:00pm performance will meet in the Gymnasium and will not include the story walk. Please have students at the school by 5:45 ready to begin. Students are encouraged to dress for winter with hats, scarfs, and mittens! ❄️

Due to widespread black ice throughout the county, Surry County Schools will transition to a Remote Learning Day today, Friday, January 19, for students and staff. This means all schools and facilities will be closed for students. Elementary students should complete work in their remote learning packets, and middle and high school students should access their assignments on Canvas.

Surry County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. This delay will help with visibility for bus drivers and allow time for temperatures to increase.

Surry County Schools will be closed with an optional teacher workday tomorrow, Tuesday, January 16, 2024. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory that will be in effect until 7:00 AM Tuesday morning. There are snow-covered roads in the northern parts of Surry County, so please exercise caution if planning to travel.


We would like to welcome Mrs. Renee Bullington to Westfield! She is the new teaching assistant in the Pre-K classroom with Mrs KIng. We are happy to have her here!

Due to heavy rain and potential flooding, Surry County Schools will dismiss students at 1:30 p.m. today, Tuesday, January 9, 2024. All after-school events and activities are canceled, and there will be no after-school childcare this afternoon. We will continue to monitor weather conditions overnight.
