Leader of the Month
It’s a beautiful day in Surry County! Why? Because today we got to say welcome back to teachers and staff in one of the best ways: Convocation! This year’s theme, Thrive, was the emphasis of the program. Employees were invited to Pilot Mountain Middle School where they got to mingle with local community and business partners, along with a program featuring remarks from dynamic leaders in the district. Door prizes collected from local businesses were given away to lucky employees! Thank you to everyone involved who made this event possible! #ThriveSCS

New for the 2023-2024 School Year! NO COST BREAKFAST & LUNCH for ALL Elementary & Middle School students as part of the Community Eligibility Provision or CEP. The Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) is a USDA school meal funding option that enables schools to provide free meals to students. Just like textbooks and computers, under CEP, school meals are available to students at no cost to them at designated schools. Families with High School students are encouraged to apply for free & reduced meals using the traditional process. Families that receive FNS benefits from DSS do not need to apply! USDA and this institution are an equal opportunity employer and provider.

"Like many school districts, the Surry County School System in rural North Carolina is facing a teacher shortage. Knowing that current teaching staff come from the area, rather than looking outward to recruit more teachers, district leaders opted to create a teacher pipeline from inside their own high school classrooms."
