Congratulations to our Robotics Team. We can all be proud of their effort at the State Championships on Saturday. They represented our school and community wonderfully. I appreciate all the time and effort this team has put into their competitions this year.
Our school is participating in the Kid’s Heart Challenge. There are two huge rewards possible through this challenge, the first is a pair of tickets to the Super Bowl, and the second is $10,000 in fitness equipment for the school. Please see our Facebook page or website for more details.
There will be no school on Monday as we celebrate the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday. Friday we will celebrate the 100th day of school by dressing up like 100-year-olds.
Report Cards and Attendance letters came home on Friday with students. Please look over the report cards with your student and help them set goals for the last semester.
The Mountain Park Youth Foundation has opened up their t-ball, softball, and baseball signups. These can be accessed through their website, mtnparkyouth.org, or found on their Facebook page.
Our 2024-2025 Kindergarten Registration is now open. If you know of anyone with a child who will be 5 on or before August 31st, they are eligible for kindergarten enrollment. Registration links can be found on our website or Facebook page.

The Fourth Grade enjoyed a marshmallow “snow ball” fight today! They created catapults, testing and adjusting them to fire marshmallows. What a fun STEM activity!
Yesterday was National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, and we wanted to take a moment to celebrate Officer Foster. Officer Foster has been a wonderful addition to our building. She is constantly supporting our staff and building relationships with our students. Thank you Officer Foster for all you do for our school and community!

All after-school events and activities are canceled, and there will be no after-school childcare this afternoon. We will continue to monitor weather conditions overnight.

Good Evening Mountaineers! This is your principal Matt Scott with this week’s updates.
Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will be taking the North Carolina Check-ins this week. As always, it is important to be at school and on time as we look to show off all we’ve learned so far this school year. Our Student Council will meet after school on Monday until 4:00. Robotics will practice after school on Tuesday until 4:30. The Good News Club will meet after school on Wednesday until 4:30.
We want to wish our Robotics team and their coaches, Mrs. Sanders and Mrs. Embry, good luck as they have advanced all the way to the state championships. They will represent our school and community on Saturday in Greensboro.

I want to wish you all a Happy New Year. As we turn the page to 2024, I want to say how grateful I am to be a part of such a wonderful school and community. I look forward to working hard in this new year to find success for all our students.
There will be no school tomorrow as we celebrate New Year’s Day. On Tuesday, there will be no school for students, but our faculty and staff will return for a required workday. On Wednesday, students will return. Looking ahead, we will be out of school on Monday, Jan. 15th.
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break with friends and family and are rested and ready to get back to school!

Mountain Park Baptist and Dobson First Baptist joined together to sponsor Mountain Park Elementary for the Appalachian Backpack Program. Every student went home with a backpack filled with supplies and goodies. Thank you to Mountain Park Baptist and Dobson First Baptist!

Good Afternoon Mountaineers! This is your principal Matt Scott with a quick update.
Monday we will have our annual Polar Express Day. We invite everyone to wear their pajamas and enjoy the train ride, pancakes, cookies, and milk. On Monday afternoon, we’ll all watch the Polar Express together. We may even have a special visitor come by. On Tuesday, our robotics team will practice until 4:30. On Wednesday we will celebrate our DoNut Give Up Awards, and Pizza with the Principal for the leaders of the month. Thursday we will send home new backpacks filled with all sorts of goodies with every student in the school. Please do NOT send your student to school with a backpack on Thursday. Thursday is also an early release day. We will release school at 1:00 on Thursday.
After the early release on Thursday, we will not have school again until Jan. 3rd. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Please be safe if you are traveling.
