2025-2026 Volunteer of the Year!
Recently our 5th grade students attended 6th grade transition day at Pilot Mountain Middle School. Students were able to tour the school with student council representatives and teachers to learn more about what classes are offered next year. This trip allowed them to get a feel for the schedule they would follow and where classes are located.
They also got to enjoy a production of Shrek! The cast included members of the Theater Club from Pilot Mountain Middle and East Surry High School.

March Leaders of the Month
The North Carolina Cooperative Extension offered an educational and exciting agriculture field trip opportunity for our 2nd graders! This was a great time our students to gain hands-on, experiential learning about agriculture and where their food and fiber come from. Our event partners and agriculture students worked hard to make this a memorable learning experience for everyone.

#SCSUpdates | Due to the forecast of severe weather tomorrow, Monday, March 16, Surry County Schools will be closed for students, with an optional teacher workday for staff.

According to the National Weather Service, the highest and most widespread threat will be strong, damaging winds, with the potential for wind gusts between 60 and 70 miles per hour in our region. Winds are expected to begin increasing around 9:00 a.m., with the strongest conditions developing late morning and around midday, and continuing into the afternoon.

Because these wind speeds exceed what we consider safe for operating school buses, we do not feel comfortable having buses on the road during these conditions.

Again, Surry County Schools will be closed for students tomorrow, with an optional teacher workday for staff.

Thank you, and please stay safe.

It's National School Social Work Week and we are celebrating Mrs. Madison Robinette!
We are so thankful for her dedication, hard work and compassion for the students and staff! She goes above and beyond everyday. A Social Worker's job doesn't end when the school day is over. They are always on call and willing to do what it takes to make sure our students are safe and taken care of. If you know a Social Worker make sure you tell them Thank You!❤️

Presidents' Day is a U.S. federal holiday celebrated on the third Monday in February to honor the nation's presidents, specifically commemorating George Washington’s birthday. While officially designated as "Washington's Birthday" to honor the first president, it has evolved into a, popular day to recognize all U.S. presidents, often coinciding with Abraham Lincoln’s birthday

Episode 18 of Beyond the Bell with Surry County Schools is LIVE! 🎙️
In this episode, we sit down with Weatherly Reeves, a North Surry High School alum whose path from student intern to Marketing & Talent Manager with the Surry County Economic Development Partnership reflects the power of creativity and community connection.

Weatherly shares how her experiences in design, entrepreneurship, and storytelling led her back home to Surry County, and how she’s now helping elevate opportunities for others while pursuing her own creative passions as an author/ illustrator and business owner.

Her story is a reminder that students' experiences today can shape the communities they serve tomorrow!
