
Due to widespread black ice throughout the county, Surry County Schools will transition to a Remote Learning Day today, Friday, January 19, for students and staff. This means all schools and facilities will be closed for students. Elementary students should complete work in their remote learning packets, and middle and high school students should access their assignments on Canvas.

Surry County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. This delay will help with visibility for bus drivers and allow time for temperatures to increase.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory that will be in effect until 7:00 AM Tuesday morning. There are snow-covered roads in the northern parts of Surry County, so please exercise caution if planning to travel.

Clara Anne won first place in the 2023 North Carolina School Board Association Elementary (3rd-5th grades) Poster Contest, which had the theme "What Makes a Good Friend?" Posters were judged on how well they addressed the topic, the quality of work, and the creativity of the poster.
Clara Anne’s poster reads “Be a lighthouse in someone’s storm,” which is a great message and something we should all aspire to be for those in our lives. Congratulations Clara Anne!
