Good evening Mountain Park. This week on Tuesday, DARE begins for our 5th graders. Also on Tuesday, we will have our first PTO meeting at 5:00 in the picnic shelter. Please join us if you are interested in being part of the PTO. On Wednesday, our Good News Club begins meeting after school in the cafeteria until 4:30. Please return the form sent home if your child is interested in joining. Friendly Dental Forms were also sent home with your child. If you are interested in your child seeing the dentist while at school, please return this form to the classroom teacher no later than 9/12. Yearbook order forms have also been sent home. They are on sale for $25 if you would like to purchase one. Additionally, so you are aware, we are asking students to get everything they need in the cafeteria the first time through the line to help with efficiency and safety in the cafeteria. Thank you for your support in this matter and for all you do to make Mountain Park a great place to be!
Who loves to work hard? Second Grade does!
On the first day of school, miss Norman’s class read the book Have you filled a bucket today? And learned what it looks like to be a bucket filler and a bucket dipper. Over the last 4 weeks they have been working to “fill their class bucket” by being kind, considerate and using manners. Today, they got to enjoy popsicles as a reward for filling the class bucket all the way up!

Good afternoon. This is Blair Lambert, principal of Mountain Park Elementary School, with an important update.
On Tuesday, our maintenance department determined that a PVC union coupling had failed on the water filter system at Mountain Park Elementary and would need to be replaced. The Surry County Schools Maintenance Team worked diligently to make the necessary repairs on Tuesday. The water filter system is working correctly and has been tested thoroughly by our maintenance department and the contractors who handled the installation.
Mountain Park Elementary School will operate under a normal schedule on Wednesday, September 4th.

Hello Mountaineers. We hope you are enjoying the long weekend and look forward to seeing students back at school on Tuesday after the Labor Day holiday. Parents of kindergarten students, this is a reminder that kindergarten physical and immunization records are due no later than 9/11/24. If we do not have this information by the due date, the student will not be able to return to school until these medical requirements are completed. Please join us on Tuesday evening September 3rd at Tlaquepaque in Dobson for Mountain Park Spirit Night if you can. We would love to see you. Looking ahead, we invite any parent or guardian interested in joining the Mountain Park PTO to join us at the picnic shelter at 5:00 on Tuesday, September 10th. Yearbooks are on sale now! Yearbook order forms were sent home today.
This year we are accepting donations towards yearbooks to help provide yearbooks for everyone in our building. If you would like to donate a yearbook this year, please call the front office for more information. We appreciate your kindness and generosity!

Good evening Mountaineers! This is Blair Lambert with announcements for this week and other upcoming events. On Tuesday, our third graders will be taking a state reading assessment. Please make sure students are well rested for this test. There is no school on Monday, September 2nd for the Labor Day holiday. Tlaquepaque in Dobson is hosting a spirit night for Mountain Park on Tuesday, September 3rd. We hope you will join us! This week the Surry Central ROTC visited our 5th graders. 5th grade learned how to fold, put up and take down the flag properly. Mrs. Embry, Mrs. Dowell-Young and Mrs. Norman with former students had the privilege of watching previous Mountaineers lead as an ROTC.
Pre K is off to a great start! We have had 2 great first days and we are excited for what’s to come!

Good evening. I apologize for the incorrect message sent out earlier. Thank you all for a wonderful first week! I hope every student at Mountain Park has had a great experience so far. Please call the school any time if you need assistance with any matter or have a concern. In the afternoon car line, we would appreciate your pulling forward toward the fire department to buckle students in so that our car line is as efficient as possible. We look forward to welcoming our new preK students to school this week beginning on Wednesday. This week, all students should enter the building independently with the exception of preK.
