Good Evening Mountaineers! This is your principal Matt Scott with this week’s updates.
The Grow Strong Running Team will practice after school on Mondays and Thursdays until 4:00 beginning tomorrow. Robotics will practice on Tuesday after school until 4:30. Good News Club will meet after school on Wednesday until 4:30. Cub Scout sign-ups will be Thursday night from 5:30-7:00. On Friday we will have our monthly Do Not Give Up and Pizza with the Principal celebrations.
It's almost Science Fair Time! The Mountain Park Science Fair will be on Thursday, November 9th for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. Several forms MUST be completed BEFORE you begin your project. Mrs. Dollyhite will have the forms ready on Wednesday, September 27th. Any 3rd through 5th grader who participates in the Science Fair will get to go on a special Science field trip. Please contact Mrs. Dollyhite if you have any questions.
Looking ahead, our school picture day will be Oct. 9th. Look for information on our website or Facebook page.

3rd, 4th, and 5th graders, don't forget to turn in your running club papers if you have not done so already. Running Club will start NEXT Monday, September 25th, and Thursday the 28th. Practice will be over at 4:00.

The fun thing about Dot Day is.....EVERYTHING! We loved wearing dots, eating Dots, making dots, and decorating with dots!

Happy dot day from the mountaineers! Dot day is an international day of celebrating creativity and "making your mark!” It originates from Peter Reynolds’s book “the dot”.
Mrs Wilkins worked hard prepping MPE for dot day!
Mountaineers participated by creating dot artwork in art class, eating dot candy and cookies, searching for golden dots to win prizes, and they also created a collaborative “obliteration room” inspired by the artwork of Yayoi Kusama in which every student added dot stickers to a completely white space. Surry Central will be hosting a Fall Carnival and Powder Puff Game on Friday, September 22, with the carnival beginning at 5:30 and the Powder Puff Game beginning at 7:30. Let's help the seniors raise money for their senior trip.

As a reminder, transportation changes must be made in writing, and the pick-up list may only be updated in person. Students must be picked up every afternoon by 3:15. If not, we have a great opportunity for drop-in after-school child-care. The drop-in fee is $15 per day.
Progress Reports will come home this week. Please spend time with your student checking to see their progress and how they can be supported to continue to grow.

We will be celebrating International Dot Day on Thursday with several different activities and we’d like everyone to wear Polka Dots as part of the celebration.
School will be closed Friday, September 15th for a teacher workday.
