We hope you've enjoyed the pictures from today, as much as, we enjoyed participating in Dot Day! Thank you Mrs. Wilkins for planning such a spectacular day!

Pre-K had a blast exploring Dots today!

Dots took over Mountain Park today, and now they're taking over your timeline. Get ready to see some more Dot fun with our next group of pictures!

The fun thing about Dot Day is.....EVERYTHING! We loved wearing dots, eating Dots, making dots, and decorating with dots!

We can't tell who had more fun on Dot Day, the staff or students? What do you think?

Happy dot day from the mountaineers! Dot day is an international day of celebrating creativity and "making your mark!” It originates from Peter Reynolds’s book “the dot”.
Mrs Wilkins worked hard prepping MPE for dot day!
Mountaineers participated by creating dot artwork in art class, eating dot candy and cookies, searching for golden dots to win prizes, and they also created a collaborative “obliteration room” inspired by the artwork of Yayoi Kusama in which every student added dot stickers to a completely white space. Stay tuned for our time lapse video of the process and lots more pictures!

As a reminder, transportation changes must be made in writing, and the pick-up list may only be updated in person. Students must be picked up every afternoon by 3:15. If not, we have a great opportunity for drop-in after-school child-care. The drop-in fee is $15 per day.
Progress Reports will come home this week. Please spend time with your student checking to see their progress and how they can be supported to continue to grow.
Robotics will practice Tuesday after school until 4:30. Good News Club will meet after school on Wednesday until 4:30.
We will be celebrating International Dot Day on Thursday with several different activities and we’d like everyone to wear Polka Dots as part of the celebration.
School will be closed Friday, September 15th for a teacher workday.
Those are all the announcements for tonight. I look forward to seeing our Mountaineers back on campus tomorrow.

The Fourth Grade created “floating magnets” today! They had to explain how magnets attract and repel.

Congratulations to Mrs. Leonard and Mrs. Amos for scoring back to back 100% sanitation grades! #MPESisTHRIVING #itsagreatdaytobeamountaineer

Come out and support MPES at the Yadkin Valley Pumpkin Festival! On Saturday, September 23, you will have the opportunity to dunk Mrs. Pierce! Join us at 3pm to show your support for the MPES community. Mrs. Pierce can't wait to see you there!

MPES leaders are starting the year off demonstrating self-awareness! Each month we like to celebrate students who are a representation of our leadership characteristic of the month. In the month of August, students were chosen for showing great self-awareness. Showing self-awareness means that students are able to express their feelings, what they care about, what they like, and their strengths and weaknesses. We are very proud of our student leaders! #itsagreatdaytobeamountaineer

On Friday, we celebrated our first group students that earned the "Doughnut Give Up" Award. Students who earned this award have shown grit, tenacity and resiliency throughout the month of August. We are proud of these student leaders for setting the example of how to persevere when presented with a challenge! Way to go Mountaineers! #itsagreatdaytobeamountaineer

On Thursday, our fifth grade students learned the importance of properly taking care of our flag. Thank you Sergeant McCormick and the Surry Central JROTC taking the time to teach us the proper way to handle and fold the flag.

Mrs. Moore’s Kindergarteners are learning to use whisper phones to read during Independent Reading Time.
