Good Evening Mountaineers! This is your principal Matt Scott with this week’s updates.
Monday and Thursday our Grow Strong team will practice after school until 4:00. Robotics will practice after school on Tuesday until 4:30. The Good News Club will meet after school on Wednesday until 4:30, and on Thursday, our Kindergarteners will visit the Historic Courthouse Square in Dobson for a Halloween Boo Bash.
Our Chocolate Bar sale is winding down. We need all money turned in by Friday, Oct. 27. We have just a few boxes left for anyone that can help us make a final push. We really need to sell all our boxes in order to reach our goal. We’ve given out some awesome prizes and I’m sure we’ll give more out this week. Remember we have a few special prizes that we will celebrate later as well.
Our Book Fair will be held this week. Students will be able to visit the book fair any day. Parents may come or bring their student every afternoon from 3:00-3:30, and Family Night at the Book Fair will be on Thursday, Oct. 26 from 6:00-7:30.
As a reminder, being at school every day and on time is of the utmost importance. If you do not arrive at school by 8:00, please park and walk your student in as they have to be signed in.
We will now be offering SchoolCash Online as our preferred method of payment for all school fees, including everything from field trips to yearbook.
SchoolCash Online helps parents and community members pay school-related fees safely, quickly, and easily. By using SchoolCash Online, you help increase efficiency and security by making payments directly into Mountain Park Elementary School’s bank account. We will post our items and activities and assign the relevant fees to your student, so you can then make purchases online using your credit card. This allows you to stay informed about upcoming school activities while keeping track of the school fees that require your attention. Teachers either have or will send a link and directions in the next few days to help you sign up.
Those are all the announcements for tonight. I look forward to seeing our Mountaineers back on campus tomorrow.

Our Mountain Park fundraiser kicked off on Thursday. Chocolate bars came home with students at that time. Once you sell those chocolate bars, you may sign and return a form for another box of chocolate bars. Thank you so much for your support of this school fundraiser.
This week our 1st graders will be taking benchmarks, and 3rd - 5th graders will be taking NC Check-Ins. Please make sure students arrive in time to get their free breakfast here at school and are well rested. We look forward to showing off how much we are learning at Mountain Park this year!

We have a change war going on at Mountain Park. All grade levels are involved and we are raising funds for the Surry County Schools Educational Foundation and the United Fund of Surry. The class that raises the most money will receive an ice cream party. So talk to your family and friends and bring in any loose change you can find to help raise money for these great causes.
Those are all the announcements for tonight. I look forward to seeing our Mountaineers back on campus tomorrow.

September leaders of the month were treated to Pizza with the Principal on Friday, September 29. Students were chosen as leaders of the month for demonstrating the leadership attribute of accountability. These students took ownership of their actions, and their learning.
