Thank you all for everything you do daily to ensure that instruction and learning continue.

We’re celebrating 67 days of learning, growing, and making memories together at Rockford Elementary. 🎉

It was a wonderful time to share good food, fellowship, and gratitude. 🦃🍁

As we celebrate #AmericanEducationWeek, it’s the perfect moment to recognize the educators and staff who make every day count, including all 67 days and every day after. Thank you for your dedication to our SCS students. 💛

From the moment the sun rises, children wake up to a world shaped by choices they didn't make. But every child, everywhere, also wakes with rights, including the right to be protected, to learn, and to have their voice heard.
It’s time to listen to children. To understand what their lives are like and how their rights are present, missing, or pursued every day.

Date: The third Thursday of November, which is November 20, 2025.
Purpose: To recognize and encourage family engagement in education and to strengthen the partnership between families, schools, and communities.
Benefits: Parent involvement is linked to improved student attendance, higher academic achievement, better school attitudes, and higher graduation rates.

Today, our students and staff shared what they are thankful for. It was a wonderful reminder of the kindness, gratitude, and joy that fill our school each day. 🍁💛

Here are a few reminders to help keep the event safe, smooth, and enjoyable for everyone:
🔹 Parking: Parking areas are marked yellow on the map. These lots are paved and handicap accessible.
🔹 Spectator Areas: Recommended viewing spots are marked pink on the map. You’re welcome to cheer from other safe areas, but these are great places to show your school spirit!
🔹 Bring your signs and support! We encourage families to cheer for their runners and schools.
🔹 Please do not block the race course. Keep a safe distance from the course so runners have plenty of room. Any obstacle, especially near the finish line, can affect our runners’ safety and performance. This also keeps spectators safe as well.
🔹 Finish Line Reminder: Avoid gathering at the finish line. After your student finishes, meet them and then step to the side to keep the area clear for other finishers.
🔹 Restrooms: Restroom locations are marked teal on the map.
🔹 Safety: Surry County EMS will be on-site for the duration of the event.
Thank you for helping us create a safe and fun race day for all our students. We can’t wait to see you there!

As part of our Pre-K family involvement for the curriculum, both Pre-K classrooms invite parents to help create a special turkey tradition each year! Families are encouraged to decorate a feather at home using any materials they choose.
Once the feathers are returned to school, we proudly add them to our big hallway turkey for everyone to enjoy!
Thank you to our Pre-K families for your creativity and participation—our turkey is always extra special because of you!
