Wear Blue in honor of Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month
School Nutrition partners with the NC Department of Agriculture and local farmers to bring fresh, NC-grown produce to our schools. This initiative helps support local agriculture while providing students with healthy, nutritious foods like apples, strawberries, beef, blueberries, cabbage, and watermelons. By sourcing locally, the program benefits both farmers & our students. To recognize this effort, School Nutrition is working with our Farm to School partners to celebrate Ag Day for SCS Second Graders and highlight the importance of the NC Farm to School program throughout the district on April 4, 2025. Please join us in celebrating the NC Farm to School program on April 4th! School Nutrition is offering a "Got to Be NC" Menu with a Meal Deal for Adults. On Friday, April 4th, students can dress like a farmer or farm animal.

Happy Paraprofessional Day! Today, we recognize and appreciate the dedication of our amazing paraprofessionals! 💙👏 They play a vital role in supporting students and teachers, providing guidance, encouragement, and extra help to make learning successful for all. Thank you for your hard work, patience, and commitment to our school community! We couldn’t do it without you! 💛 Paraprofessional Appreciation Day honors paraprofessional educators, who may also be known as paras, instructional assistants, or teacher aides. Paraprofessionals perform a variety of teaching-related jobs and often assist teachers in classrooms. Paras may work with students on supplemental enrichment activities, either in small groups or one-on-one. They may also help students complete assignments or practice reading. Paraprofessionals often work with students with special education needs and a variety of disabilities. They may also supervise students outside of classrooms and help teachers with clerical work. Paraprofessionals work tirelessly each day to support students & teachers, so today we honor them for their service.

📚 April is National School Library Month! 📚 Millions of people, young and old, visit libraries every week. What's the draw? Everything! From young families stopping in for play and storytime to students sketching out their next creative project in a maker space, to seniors seeking tech help and everyone in between, libraries of all kinds help communities connect the dots that link one part of their journey to the next. Help readers chart their next literary adventure by browsing the stacks or joining a book club. Let an author color their imagination at an author talk, outline their big business idea at an entrepreneur workshop, or trace their history with your library’s genealogy resources.

Over the years, it has become the largest literary celebration in the world, with tens of millions of readers, students, K–12 teachers, librarians, booksellers, literary events curators, publishers, families, and—of course—poets, marking poetry’s important place in our lives.
