Congratulations to Jerry Holt for being named Rockford's Bus Driver of the Year for 2024-2025!! Mr. Jerry has served in the bus driver field for a number of years, is committed and dedicated to our school and students. One staff member says, "Mr. Jerry is the man to count on when it comes to getting the kids to school safely. Jerry not only keeps them safe, but he also encourages leadership with all students." Jerry has high expectations for the students, holding students accountable for their journeys. He is an upstanding adult who all kids feel safe to ride with and talk to about anything. We are proud to celebrate Mr. Jerry as our Bus Driver of the Year and appreciate all you do for Rockford Gators!

Our 1st-grade students had an exciting adventure on their field trip to Kaleideum today! 🚌✨ They explored hands-on exhibits, engaged in interactive learning, and had tons of fun discovering new things. It was a day full of curiosity, laughter, and memorable moments! 🌟

Mrs. Simmons’ class took a sweet journey into history today! 🍭🎲 After reading about the origins of the board game Candy Land, students were challenged to create their own board games. They came up with a unique theme and title, determined how to win, chose the number of players, listed materials needed, and wrote their own rules. What a fun way to mix creativity, critical thinking, and a little bit of nostalgia!

Ms. Slater's class became junior paleontologists under the direction of Jeff Edwards! 🦕🪨🔍 Students explored fossils and learned all about the work paleontologists do to uncover clues from the past. What an exciting and educational day full of discovery!

The Surry County 4-H Extension Office brought an incubator and eggs to our second-grade classrooms! 🐣✨ Students will have the incredible opportunity to witness the development of chicks from day 0 to hatching on day 21. This hands-on experience brings science to life in the most exciting way—what an egg-citing adventure! 🐥🔬📚

Our Kindergarten students are learning all about tangrams! 🎉 This week, they used 2D shapes to create different animals and objects. It was a fun and hands-on way to explore geometry while boosting creativity and critical thinking! 🟦🟥🐘🐠 Great job, Kindergarten!

🥚📚 This week in Media class, students read Rechenka’s Eggs by Patricia Polacco and tapped into their creativity by designing their own beautiful Pysanky Eggs! 🎨✨ This special story inspired students to explore the art and tradition of egg decorating, just like in the book. Great job, Gators! 🐊💛

Mrs Martins 5th grade science classes enjoyed a glow in the dark review day. They had a glow challenge, trying to answer the most questions correctly and gather the most glow sticks.
