🌟 April is Volunteer Appreciation Month! 🌟
This month, we celebrate and appreciate the incredible volunteers who dedicate their time and efforts to making a difference in our school and community. Your kindness, generosity, and hard work do not go unnoticed.
Thank you for all that you do to support our students, teachers, and staff! 💙👏
National Volunteer Month is celebrated every April, a time to recognize and appreciate the contributions of volunteers who dedicate their time and efforts to make a difference in their communities.

National Poetry Month
Launched by the Academy of American Poets in April 1996, National Poetry Month is a special occasion that celebrates poets’ integral role in our culture and that poetry matters. Over the years, it has become the largest literary celebration in the world, with tens of millions of readers, students, K–12 teachers, librarians, booksellers, literary events curators, publishers, families, and—of course—poets, marking poetry’s important place in our lives.

April is Counseling Awareness Month! 🌟
At Rockford Elementary, we appreciate the hard work and dedication of our school counselor, Grayce Goins, who provides guidance, support, and encouragement to our students every day. 💙
School counselors play a vital role in helping students succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. Let’s take a moment to thank our counselors for all they do!

April is National Bilingual/Multilingual Learner Advocacy Month! 🌎📚
At Rockford Elementary, we celebrate the hard work and achievements of our bilingual and multilingual students. Learning more than one language is a superpower that opens doors to new opportunities, cultures, and connections!
Let’s continue to support, encourage, and uplift our multilingual learners as they grow and thrive in their education. 💙✨

Autism Acceptance Month
Autism Acceptance Month celebrates and honors the experiences and identities of Autistic individuals. It emphasizes understanding, inclusion, and support, moving beyond awareness towards meaningful acceptance.

📚 April is National School Library Month! 📚
Millions of people, young and old, visit libraries every week. What's the draw? Everything! From young families stopping in for play and storytime to students sketching out their next creative project in a maker space, to seniors seeking tech help and everyone in between, libraries of all kinds help communities connect the dots that link one part of their journey to the next.
Help readers chart their next literary adventure by browsing the stacks or joining a book club. Let an author color their imagination at an author talk, outline their big business idea at an entrepreneur workshop, or trace their history with your library’s genealogy resources.

Today Mrs. Marion’s class had a very special guest teacher in PE, their very own Brody Norman. Brody had shared with Mrs. Fitzgerald that he had finished reading Harry Potter and made a game with it. Today he taught the game to his classmates. Brody did an outstanding job of communicating with his class how to play the game, correcting any errors he noticed and making changes to the game as the students improved. Mrs. Fitzgerald is so proud of Brody for being a great leader and how he combined his love of reading and love of physical activity to create a fun and challenging game to share with his classmates.
