Good afternoon. This is Kelly Waters, principal of Rockford Elementary School. When something occurs that involves our students, I want to keep you informed and provide you with accurate information. Today during recess, a student strayed from their class group and joined a different class group entering the school building. The teachers thoroughly searched the playground and then immediately notified myself, who chose to put the school in a shelter in place to locate that student. The student was quickly located and the shelter in place was lifted in less than 2 minutes. I want to assure you that we take the safety of your children very seriously. Thank you for your involvement in your child’s education and your partnership with Rockford Elementary School. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at (336) 374-6300.
