Our annual Krispy Kreme fundraiser is underway. 🍩 Fundraiser papers were sent home with students yesterday, 11/2. They need to be turned in on Thursday, November 9th. Pick-up will be in the gym on Friday, November 17th. The price per dozen is $10, and BOGO Cards are $20.
Thank you to all the tiger families who help support the PTO and Dobson Elementary. Without your continued support, we could not plan the activities for the students that we do!
GO TIGERS! 🐾🐅

REMINDER: No School for Students on Friday, November 3, 2023! Required Staff Development for Staff.

Students at DES who participate in Robotics, Art Club, Running Club, Battle of the Books, Chorus, and our Student Ambassador program had the opportunity to be a part of Surry Central High School's Homecoming Parade last Friday! It was such a great day to be a Dobson tiger and show our tiger (and potential future eagle) pride! A HUGE thank you to everyone who helped make this happen. #ThriveSCS #OnceaTigerAlwaysaTiger #TigersROAR 🐯💛

Surry County Schools Salvation Army Sign-ups

Students were invited to wear traditional clothing on Friday, and we also had the pleasure of watching the Mount Airy Museum Ballet Folklorico Group perform traditional Hispanic dances. After learning about and celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month for the past two weeks as a school, this was such a treat that we not only got to enjoy but also learn lots from! Thank you to all involved in making this happen, especially to Miss Guillen, our ML Specialist/Teacher! 🤩

It is National Principals Month! Today and every day we are beyond appreciative of Mrs. Hazelwood's leadership and kindness. We want to take the time this month to thank her tremendously for all of her hard work and dedication! 🧡 #ThankaPrincipal #ThriveSCS

Weekly Message from Mrs. Hazelwood:
9/24/23
Good evening, Tiger Families! This is Mrs. Hazelwood calling with Tiger news! This week we will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! Students will learn about Hispanic heritage throughout the week! We will end this event on Friday with a special assembly. Students are invited to wear their traditional clothing on this day. “Start with Hello” week will be this week! This is an initiative to show kindness to others. Students are invited to dress out each day in support of this event. We will kick off on Monday by wearing green! On Tuesday night a representative from the Cub Scouts will be in our cafeteria from 5:30-7:00 for cub scouts sign-ups. Please enter at the exterior cafeteria entrance door. On Tuesday and Thursday robotics will meet and on Thursday art club will meet. Please send a note if your child plans to stay. On Wednesday, Mrs. Coe’s class will travel to the Earle Theater. We will honor and celebrate our teaching assistants on Thursday with TA Appreciation Day! Our TAs serve our school in so many ways from small group reading to lunch duty-they are always ready to help students and staff! We appreciate their service to our school! Friday morning 3rd grade parents are invited to attend our 3rd Grade Parent Breakfast at 8:00. We hope you will make plans to attend this event with your child and learn about third grade! Our students are working hard to set reading goals! Our first quarter reading incentive trip will be in December. We would love for all tigers to attend. We want our students to fall in love with a good book! Have a fabulous week! Good night!

5th grade students learned about the respiratory system and, more specifically, how our lungs are responsible for getting oxygen to our bodies through inhalation and exhalation. They then built a model to gain a better understanding of the concept. Great work! 🤩
