Good evening, Tiger families! This is Mrs. Hazelwood calling with Tiger News! This week is also School Lunch Week! We will celebrate our wonderful lunch ladies that work hard each day to provide healthy and delicious meals to our students. Our Kindergarten and 2nd grade students will take their 1st quarter math assessment and 3rd-5th graders will take their reading, math, and 5th grade science assessments. On Monday, our school improvement team will meet after school. The end of the grading period is on Tuesday. Please encourage your child to start strong and end strong. On Wednesday, our kindergarten and 1st graders will take their field trip. Please ensure your child’s permission form and money has been returned. Any parent that wishes to attend must have a volunteer form turned in and drive separately. Students will return to campus at 3:30. Please make plans to pick up your child at this time. Wednesday night is Coaches Spirit Night! Go get dinner at Coaches and let your server know you are from Dobson Elementary! Return your receipt on Thursday for a homework pass. On Monday, running club will meet and on Tuesday and Thursday robotics will meet. Please send a note if your child plans to stay. Our tigers ambassadors are leading a Coin War this week to raise money for Hurricane Helene victims. Students may bring in change and dollars this week in support of this. Please remember that our doors open at 7:35. Any student that is not in their classroom at 8:00 is marked tardy. Please ensure that your child is on time for class each day. Thank you for your help and support! We hope you had a great long weekend! Good night!

Out of an abundance of caution, Surry County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. This delay will help with visibility for bus drivers and allow additional time for families to safely commute to school campuses. Students who ride the bus should plan to arrive at their bus stop two hours later than they normally would. Thank you, have a good evening, and be safe tomorrow!

#SCSUpdates | Out of an abundance of caution, all Surry County Schools will remain closed for students, Monday, September 30, 2024. Tomorrow will be an optional teacher workday.
In addition, Surry County Schools will be opening East Surry, North Surry, and Surry Central High Schools for our families who are without power from 11:00am-1:00pm, on Monday, September 30. Child nutrition staff will be on-site to serve meals. You are welcome to come by for a meal, take a shower, and use the restrooms. Our locker rooms will also be available for your convenience.
Thank you, and please stay safe.

Good evening, Tiger families! This is Mrs. Hazelwood calling with Tiger News! This week we will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! Students are encouraged to wear their traditional Hispanic attire on Friday for our assembly with dancing. On Monday, running club will meet, robotics will meet on Tuesday and Thursday, art club will meet on Tuesday, and student council will meet on Thursday. Please send a note in your child plans to stay. Our 4th and 5th grade students will have student led conferences on Tuesday and Thursday this week. Parents were sent an invitation for a time that works best for them to attend with their child. Wednesday is Custodian Appreciation Day! We are thankful for how hard Mr. Terry, Mr. Mathew, and Mrs. Tonya work to keep our school clean. Please remember that all car riders must be dismissed through the car rider line on rainy days. We are unable to dismiss walk-ups when it rains. This is to ensure student safety during dismissal. We appreciate your help and support of this. Have a safe and happy week! Good night!

**IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM SURRY COUNTY SCHOOLS**
EARLY DISMISSAL AND REMOTE LEARNING DAY - HURRICANE HELENE - Due to heavy rain and potential flooding, Surry County Schools will dismiss students at 2:00 p.m. today, Thursday, September 26, 2024. All after-school events and activities are canceled and there will be no after-school childcare this afternoon. Due to the hazardous weather outlook for tomorrow, which could impact student drivers, bus routes, and overall safety, Friday, September 27, will be a remote learning day for students and staff. Students that reach their reading goals will get to attend on reading trip in December. We love for parents to join us for lunch!
