Good evening, Tiger families! This is Mrs. Hazelwood calling with Tiger News! There will be no school on Monday, September 2nd due to Labor Day Holiday. Enjoy this long weekend with your family. Thank you for joining us for parent awareness sessions these past few weeks. We hope these parent awareness sessions were helpful in learning grade level expectations. 5th grade will have their session this week on Thursday, September 5th. Parents are invited to come and eat breakfast with their child and learn about what to expect in this year’s grade. The cost for breakfast is $2.35. Our cafeteria accepts cash or checks. On Thursday, September 5th, we will have our ice cream party for students that sold 10 books of tickets. Our raffle ticket drawing will be on Friday, September 6th. We will announce the winners on our school Facebook page. We appreciate your support of our fundraiser. With your help, we raised over $6,000 for school needs. On Friday, our 5th graders will go on a field trip to Appalachian State University. Please return your child’s permission form and money if they plan to attend. 5th graders will not return until 4:00pm. Please make plans to pick up your child at this time. We have been working on learning how to lead self by demonstrating self awareness and accountability. We will celebrate student leadership later in September with our ROAR celebration. Students with 3 or more MIRS will be able to attend. Thank you for talking to your child about how to lead self. Take time to soak up the official end of summer and beginning of the fall season. Enjoy your long weekend! Good night.

After school childcare will be closing at 5:00 PM today, August 28th. Thank you for your help and understanding! We apologize for any inconvenience.

Good evening, Tiger families! This is Mrs. Hazelwood calling with Tiger News! Welcome back to the 2024-2025 school year. We have missed our tigers and are looking forward to meeting them at orientation. Our back to school orientation will be on Monday, August 5th. Parents may choose to attend between 8-10:00 am or 5:00–7:00 pm. No appointment is needed! Come at a time that works best for you to meet your child’s teacher and complete necessary paperwork. Families should have received a letter from me with back to school information as well as a district letter regarding annual student enrollment. Save time at open house and go ahead and complete this online. We will have before and after school childcare sign-ups in our front office during orientation. The first day for before and after school childcare is Wednesday, August 14th. All students receive free breakfast AND lunch this school year! We are so excited to be able to provide this opportunity to our students. Parents are welcome to come and eat lunch with their child. Parents can pay for their meals by cash or check this school year. Parents may not eat off their child’s lunch account. The first day of school will be on Thursday, August 8th. We will have staggered kindergarten enrollment which means half of our kindergarten student’s first day will be on August 8th and the other half on August 9th. The entire kindergarten will return on August 12th. If you have a kindergarten student, your back to school letter you received indicated what your child’s first day of school is. PreK students will start August 21st and 22nd. They will also have a staggered start. Mrs. Rodgers will communicate to parents what your child’s first day of school is. Parents are welcome to walk their child to class the first week of school. When in the car rider line, please pull all the way up to spot #1. This helps with the flow of traffic. During afternoon dismissal, walk-ups may stand at the flagpole or behind the orange lines. This is to ensure the safety of all students. Please be patient with us these first few weeks as we learn your vehicles. If you have any questions, please reach out to the school. We want our students to learn respect, organization, having a great attitude, and responsibility this school year. Thank you for working together to help your child grow and learn. We look forward to seeing you at orientation tomorrow! Good night!
