The Silver Apple Award goes to a group of women who daily take care of the needs of all the students and staff in the building, and they always do it with a huge smile 😃 . They never let obstacles get in their way; from school delays, field trips, bagged lunches, last-minute menu changes, trucks arriving late or not showing up, going out of their way to make sure dietary needs and allergies are met, to the boiler breaking and flooding their kitchen, all these obstacles never affect their ability to serve the Rockford family. For the month of February, I award the Silver Apple Award to Rebecca Combs and her entire cafeteria staff.

In this episode, we sit down with Weatherly Reeves, a North Surry High School alum whose path from student intern to Marketing & Talent Manager with the Surry County Economic Development Partnership reflects the power of creativity and community connection.

Weatherly shares how her experiences in design, entrepreneurship, and storytelling led her back home to Surry County, and how she’s now helping elevate opportunities for others while pursuing her own creative passions as an author/ illustrator and business owner.

Her story is a reminder that students' experiences today can shape the communities they serve tomorrow!
