On Thursday, Kindergarten students received a visit from Rockford’s own Officer Richardson. Officer Richardson, along with some other officers, talked to the kids about how they help the community daily. Students also received a special surprise from the K-9 officer. They hid and were able to see the K-9 sniffing to find them.
What a wonderful Community Helpers Week it has been!

Constitution Day and Citizenship Day is an American federal observance that recognizes the adoption of the United States Constitution and those who have become U.S. citizens. It is normally observed on September 17, the day in 1787 that delegates to the Constitutional Convention signed the document in Philadelphia.
“Today is National School Backpack Awareness Day! 🎒
A reminder to always wear your backpack the safe way — with both straps and not too heavy! Keeping our students safe and healthy is always a top priority at Rockford.”
Each September, AOTA’s Backpack Awareness Day raises national awareness about the risks associated with heavy and improperly worn backpacks. This important campaign, led by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), highlights how overloaded backpacks can contribute to pain, poor posture, and long-term musculoskeletal problems in students of all ages.
Occupational therapists, educators, and families join forces on this day to educate children and caregivers about how to choose, pack, and wear backpacks safely. The focus is not just on reducing injury—it’s about building healthy habits that support physical well-being throughout the school year.
