
A Book-A-Thon is designed to reinforce good reading habits while raising funds to support the Literacy Committee.
The Book-A-Thon will start on December 21st and end on January 12th.
We encourage students to get pledges from family and neighbors.
PRIZE LIST:
If you raise $10.00-Cookie from the cafeteria.
If you are the Top Grade Level $ Raiser-$10.00 Scholastic coupon for the book fair.
If you are the top $ Collector in the school-Kindle
NEED TO KNOW INFORMATION:
Step One: Gather pledges.
Sponsors may pledge an amount for each page (ex. $0.10 per page) OR a flat amount. (ex. $5.00)
Step Two: Read, read, read!
After the Book-a-Thon starts, you’ll need to read!
Record your reading minutes on the Reading Tracker.
Be sure to have your parent’s or teacher’s initial that you read during that time.
Step Three: Collect money.
Step Four: Turn in the envelope to Mrs. Edwards on Tuesday, January 14th.

For the month of December, our students have learned how to use collaboration skills to accomplish tasks more efficiently. This month, Bailey White is the student leader of the month! Bailey shows collaboration skills with her classmates by communicating with kindness and listening to others when they speak. Bailey always tries to be a team player and it shows. The Surry County Board of Education has accepted multiple draft calendars for public comment for the 2025-2026 school year. Potential start dates include August 7, 2024, August 11, 2024, August 13, 2024, and August 25, 2024.

Arrival Time: Please have students arrive 15 minutes before showtime at 5:45 PM.
Drop-Off Location: Students will sit in the cafeteria, while parents head to the gym to be seated.
What to Wear: Students are encouraged to wear Christmas colors and hats (if they have them).
