🎉Congratulations to Ms. Simpson's class at Rockford Elementary for achieving perfect attendance not just once, but twice—for 16 days each time! 🎉👏 Your dedication to being present every day is impressive. Keep up the great work, and let's aim for even more perfect attendance streaks

Don’t forget Cookies with Santa tonight from 6-8 PM at Rockford Elementary! 🎅🍪
🎄 Come see Santa, decorate a cookie, write him a letter, and make a craft. Have your picture made with Santa and enjoy the Black Heart photo booth! Tickets are just $5.00 at the door.

Fourth-grade students participated in a mineral classification lab with Mr. Jeff Edwards from the SCS Science Institute. Mr. Edwards brought five different minerals and students had to identify the color, streak, hardness, luster, and cleavage to be able to classify each mineral. We may just have some future geologists at RES!

Fourth-grade students enjoyed a visit to the Mount Airy Museum of Regional History, followed by a performance of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever at the Andy Griffith Playhouse.

Computer Science Education Week, or CSEd Week, is celebrated from December 6 to 12 this year. The largest learning event in history, Computer Science Education Week aims to get K-12 students interested in computer coding. During the second week in December, students are encouraged to take part in an “Hour of Code.” During this event, students are literally expected to code for an hour. Along with coding, Computer Science Education Week also highlights the importance of computer science. Computer science is an important subject because it teaches problem-solving and analytical skills, and is an essential skill in the modern job market, with many scholarships out there dedicated to this area of study. The day hopes to improve computer literacy among all.

The SAVE Promise Club worked together to present a reenactment of "The Polar Express" today in representation of our leadership trait of the month, collaboration. Students focused on points of the book showing teamwork skills. There are sixty-two students in the Rockford SAVE Promise Club, each one playing a special role. All students in the club from each grade-level have worked very hard the last few week putting this together and working as a team to achieve their goals. This month's leadership goal is, "I can work with others effectively to reach my goal."
Great job SAVE Promise on being amazing leaders and presenting so well!🐊🧑🎄🚂

We are thankful! Mrs. Day’s classes participated in a variety of activities centered around Thanksgiving. Third grade students learned about Abraham Lincoln’s Thanksgiving proclamation. Students then aspired to be future presidents themselves, as they shared their own proclamations. Fourth and Fifth grade explored nouns and wrote essays displaying gratitude. Kindergarten students worked on fine motor skills and directionality by practicing left and right while creating turkeys, followed by reading a text from left to right to reinforce literacy concepts. Second grade wrote a poem of thanks, and drew conclusions about turkeys after reading a nonfiction text. First grade sequenced how to bake a turkey. They stuffed their turkeys with some interesting ingredients! 😄
