Ayden has shown distinguished actions with accountability and taking responsibility for herself, her words, and her actions. Ayden is always helping friends in need and making responsible choices. October is National Farm to School Month, a time to celebrate the connections happening all over the country between children and local food. From taste tests in the cafeteria and nutrition education activities in the classroom, to farm visits and school garden harvest parties, schools, early care and education sites, farms, communities and organizations in all 50 states, Washington, D.C. and U.S. Territories join in the celebrations.
October is National Bullying Awareness Month, and this is an opportunity to encourage the nation to take action at the local level to create safe and supportive organizations. Bullying is unacceptable and comments or conduct that disparages or demonstrates hostility or aversion should not be tolerated. By being accepting, kind, and inclusive, you can help make the world a better place. Together we can create a world without bullying!
October is National Principal Month, and we want to thank our wonderful leadership team at Rockford Elementary! Our family event Book Fair has been rescheduled for Wednesday morning at 7:15.
Out of an abundance of caution, Surry County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. This delay will help with visibility for bus drivers and allow additional time for families to safely commute to school campuses. Join us for Paint the Night Away on October 24th at 6 PM in the Rockford Elementary cafeteria! 🎨✨Hosted by the school’s art department, this fun fundraiser invites you to create your own masterpiece on an 11x14 canvas. Tickets are $20 and will be on sale from October 1st to October 7th. You can purchase tickets by visiting the school office or sending the form and money back to school with your child. Don’t miss this creative evening—come support our art department and enjoy a night of painting fun!
#SCSUpdates | Out of an abundance of caution, all Surry County Schools will remain closed for students, Monday, September 30, 2024. Tomorrow will be an optional teacher workday.
In addition, Surry County Schools will be opening East Surry, North Surry, and Surry Central High Schools for our families who are without power from 11:00am-1:00pm, on Monday, September 30. Child nutrition staff will be on-site to serve meals. You are welcome to come by for a meal, take a shower, and use the restrooms. Our locker rooms will also be available for your convenience.

EARLY DISMISSAL AND REMOTE LEARNING DAY - HURRICANE HELENE
Due to heavy rain and potential flooding, Surry County Schools will dismiss students at 2:00 p.m. today, Thursday, September 26, 2024. All after-school events and activities are canceled and there will be no after-school childcare this afternoon.
Due to the hazardous weather outlook for tomorrow, which could impact student drivers, bus routes, and overall safety, Friday, September 27, will be a remote learning day for students and staff. Students should check their learning management system for assignments and instructions from their teachers.
Safety is the top priority for Surry County Schools, and we believe this decision to be in the best interest of our students, staff, and families. Thank you for your understanding, and please stay safe over the next few days during this severe weather event.
Rockford Elementary’s second graders have been learning all about supply and demand,! 📈💡 To put their new knowledge into practice, they created unique items to 'sell' in their very own classroom marketplace. It was a fun and engaging way for students to explore economic concepts while developing creativity and teamwork. Great job, second graders!
Ms. Shelton's flex group has been reading Charlotte's web and has made inferences that Wilbur would turn into bacon, so we had bacon to show our inference!

"Rockford Gators celebrated "Start with Hello" week the past three days. On Tuesday, gators wore superhero outfits to show that we are super good friends. On Wednesday, gators dressed up as future careers to represent that they all have bright futures ahead. Today will be our last day of Start with Hello week and we will wear Rockford colors to show that we stand together against bullying. "
