In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, Rockford Elementary was honored to host the Ballet Folklorico del Museo de Mount Airy. The talented group of dancers captivated students and teachers with their vibrant costumes, lively music, and traditional Mexican dances. Rockford Elementary would like to extend a big thank you to the Ballet Folklorico del Museo de Mount Airy. Your performance was a beautiful way to honor Hispanic Heritage Month, and we are grateful for the opportunity to experience such a powerful celebration of tradition, art, and history.
Rockford proudly hosted its annual Multilingual (ML) Parent Night on October 3rd, bringing together families for an evening of connection, learning, and community. The event was a tremendous success, offering an engaging and informative experience for parents. Families had the opportunity to participate in a variety of learning stations, designed to provide valuable resources and support for multilingual learners. These interactive sessions encouraged collaboration between parents, students, and educators. We would like to extend a huge thanks to all the parents and families who attended our annual Multilingual (ML) Parent Night. Your presence and participation made the evening a great success! We truly appreciate your dedication and commitment to supporting your children's education.

This morning our 5th Grade SAVE Promise students performed a reenactment of "The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin" by Joe Troiano. The SAVE Promise performed this book to teach their peers the importance of Resilience. Resiliency is our leadership trait of the month for October. In addition to this, October is also National Bullying Prevention Month. Spookley is a square pumpkin who demonstrates resilience and how to overcome difficulties with bullying situations. We are so proud of our 5th Grade SAVE Promise group and their leadership! 💙🧡🐊

Rockford Elementary students and staff have the BEST principals. We look forward to celebrating them all month long. This week, we kicked off Principal Appreciation Month by hanging a banner in the hallway that all students signed and decorated as well as decorating their office with balloons and cards.

For the month of September, Rockford Gators focused on learning about being accountable and showing these traits in our everyday actions. As voted on by staff, this month's staff leader is Penny Hendrix. Her peers noted, "Penny always shows accountability. She is always early to work and is dependable every afternoon for after-school daycare. She also shows this same accountability for her students. She holds high expectations and her students know they can count on her. She is an accountable colleague as well!" Congratulations Penny and thank you for leading daily with Accountability!
This month we are awarding Ayden Sprinkle as the student leader of the month. Ayden has shown distinguished actions with accountability and taking responsibility for herself, her words, and her actions. Ayden is always helping friends in need and making responsible choices. Way to go Ayden, we are so proud of your leadership!
October is National Bullying Awareness Month, and this is an opportunity to encourage the nation to take action at the local level to create safe and supportive organizations. Bullying is unacceptable and comments or conduct that disparages or demonstrates hostility or aversion should not be tolerated. By being accepting, kind, and inclusive, you can help make the world a better place. Together we can create a world without bullying!
October is National Farm to School Month, a time to celebrate the connections happening all over the country between children and local food. From taste tests in the cafeteria and nutrition education activities in the classroom, to farm visits and school garden harvest parties, schools, early care and education sites, farms, communities and organizations in all 50 states, Washington, D.C. and U.S. Territories join in the celebrations.
October is National Principal Month, and we want to thank our wonderful leadership team at Rockford Elementary! Principal Kelly Waters and Assistant Principal Ashley Queen, your dedication, vision, and support help make our school an incredible place for students and staff.
