This is Mrs. Waters calling with weekly news. Monday will be day 5 in our specials rotation. Monday night we will have a Boy Scout interest meeting in the cafeteria at 5:30. Scholarships are available for eligible students. Our robotics team will practice on Monday and Wednesday after school and GROW Strong will practice on Tuesday and Thursday. On Tuesday, October 10, we will have Dairy Queen Spirit Night. RES will receive a portion of all proceeds, dine in and take out, between 5:30-9:00. Also on Tuesday our Chorus students will practice after school and our PTO will meet at 5:30 in the media center. On Wednesday our 3rd grade students will travel to The Farm. All parents who have not completed their annual student enrollment update should log in to the parent portal and complete this as soon as possible. It is crucial that we have up-to-date contact information for all students. We will dismiss school at 1:00 on Thursday and there will be no school for students on Friday, October 13th. October is National Principals Month! We want to express our gratitude to our principal, Mrs. Kelly Waters, for her leadership, vision, and commitment to creating a positive learning environment for our students and staff. Thank you for all do Mrs Waters!

The 5th-grade girls' group made certificates for each other based on the kind, thoughtful, and fun things they learned about them over the last week.









Kindergarten is starting the day with some relaxing yoga and deep breathing exercises to help with focus and calmness.




It is parachute day in PE and all the students are so excited! Who remembers and loved this day in elementary school?

Good morning. This is Kelly Waters, Principal of Rockford Elementary School. I am calling to let you know that our school participated in a Practice Lockdown Drill this morning in cooperation with the Surry County Sheriff's Office. We are very proud of our students and staff because they responded quickly and did a great job with the practice procedures. Student safety is the highest priority for Surry County Schools and the Surry County Sheriff’s Office, and we are all working diligently everyday to insure the safety of children. We appreciate everyone’s efforts to work with us in that process. We encourage you to talk to your child tonight about our practice drill. Please call us if you have any questions or concerns. Our Student Council will meet on Tuesday after school. On Tuesday and Wednesday, our art club will have a pencil sale fundraiser during arrival in the lobby. They will be selling items for $1. We will not have EBOB this week. On Thursday night, we will host ML parent night for all parents of students in our ML program. This event will take place in the cafeteria at 6:00. Please make plans to join us. On Friday, Kindergarten and 1st grade will be going to The Farm. We know this will be a great trip! Finally, if your child plans on riding the RES PTO float in the SCHS Homecoming Parade, please make sure you have completed and submitted a permission slip. Thank you.
