During the month of February, we highlight and focus our attention on the many contributions of African Americans to the United States throughout history. Let us learn, celebrate, and help each other understand the importance of recognizing those contributions and how they have shaped our world! ❤

February is "Love the Bus" Month! This month, we strive to raise both awareness and appreciation for everyone involved in the safe experience of riding the bus to and/or from school. We especially honor all bus drivers and, more specifically, our very own - Tim Burton, Lynn Hayden, and Shirley Payne! 🧡

Surry County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. This delay will help with visibility for bus drivers and allow time for temperatures to increase.

All evening events and activities are canceled for today, Tuesday, January 16, 2024.

Surry County Schools will be closed with an optional teacher workday tomorrow, Tuesday, January 16, 2024. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory that will be in effect until 7:00 AM Tuesday morning. There are snow-covered roads in the northern parts of Surry County, so please exercise caution if planning to travel.

Celebrated on the 3rd Monday of January each year, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a day that we celebrate and honor his life and achievements as a civil rights leader and activist. Most remember him for his "I Have a Dream" speech in which he spoke on justice, equality, and an end to racism in America. Today we remember Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as a prominent leader in history.
