There is no school today, October 10th, due to the Veterans Day holiday this Saturday, October 11th.
Dobson Elementary School staff and students would like to thank all military veterans for their service, dedication, and bravery. We celebrated and honored the holiday a bit early on Thursday by wearing red, white, and blue, and making cards for loved ones, friends, family members, and many others.
Thank you! ❤️

11/9/23 - Practice Lockdown Drill
Good afternoon! This is principal Nicole Hazelwood at Dobson Elementary School. I am calling to let you know that our school participated in a Practice Lockdown Drill this afternoon in cooperation with the Dobson Police Department. We are very proud of our students and staff because they responded quickly and did a great job with the practice procedures. Student safety is the highest priority for Surry County Schools and the Dobson Police Department, and we are all working diligently everyday to ensure the safety of children. We appreciate everyone’s efforts to work with us in that process. We encourage you to talk to your child tonight about our practice drill. Please call us if you have any questions or concerns. We hope you have a great day!
Laila Ayers in 4th grade, Buffy Dowd in 5th grade, and Miss Emily Edwards traveled to NC Elementary Honors Chorus over the weekend. Laila and Buffy were accepted into this choir though an audition. They performed alongside other students from across the state at the Sevens Center in downtown Winston-Salem. What an accomplishment and honor! #DESTigersROAR

Surry County Schools Salvation Army Sign-ups

Students were invited to wear traditional clothing on Friday, and we also had the pleasure of watching the Mount Airy Museum Ballet Folklorico Group perform traditional Hispanic dances. After learning about and celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month for the past two weeks as a school, this was such a treat that we not only got to enjoy but also learn lots from! Thank you to all involved in making this happen, especially to Miss Guillen, our ML Specialist/Teacher! 🤩

It is National Principals Month! Today and every day we are beyond appreciative of Mrs. Hazelwood's leadership and kindness. We want to take the time this month to thank her tremendously for all of her hard work and dedication! 🧡 #ThankaPrincipal #ThriveSCS

It is Custodian Appreciation Day! We appreciate all the hard work that Terry, Tonya, and Roger put in to keep our school clean and safe!
