National Dairy Month is celebrated every June across the United States. Established in 1937, it recognizes the vital contributions of dairy farmers and highlights the nutritional benefits of milk, cheese, and yogurt.

Today, we honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Their courage, service, and dedication to our country will never be forgotten.
As we spend time with family and friends, we pause to reflect with gratitude on those who gave their lives to protect the freedoms we enjoy every day.
❤️🤍💙 We remember and honor our heroes this Memorial Day.

A big thank you to Control and Drive Systems for the delicious fruit trays. We appreciate your kindness and support for our staff!

Our staff rocked their pink “Later Gator” tees as we celebrated the last day of school! Wishing all of our students and families a safe, fun, and relaxing summer break. We can’t wait to see everyone back in August!

We hope you have a fun, safe, and relaxing break filled with sunshine, adventures, and special memories. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back to school in August for another amazing year! 💙💚

Wishing all of our Rockford students, staff, and families a wonderful summer filled with fun, relaxation, and special memories! We hope everyone stays safe, enjoys their summer adventures, and takes time to relax and recharge.

This month, Rosalee Avalos Ocampo was drawn as our Student of the Month! Rosalee was seen as a good friend and a great leader! Rosalee is always showing CHOMP, and this shows through her kind heart and her friendship skills. Way to be a great leader as we finish out the year, we can't wait to see what next year holds for you! Keep Chomping!

This month's staff leader is Amanda Thomas. She consistently creates a supportive environment where students feel seen, heard, and valued by approaching each interaction with empathy, patience, and without judgment. Amanda takes the time to truly listen and understand students’ perspectives, helping to build trust and encourage engagement. She remains calm and respectful in challenging situations, validating students’ feelings and modeling positive communication and emotional regulation. She extends this same respect and empathy to her colleagues, fostering positive, collaborative relationships with staff as well. Additionally, she is intentional about including all students and meeting them where they are, fostering a strong sense of belonging and confidence. Amanda’s compassion and authenticity make a lasting impact. Keep Chomping Gators!

Today, we celebrate the amazing Speech-Language Pathologists who help our students find their voices and build confidence in communication.
Thank you for the patience, dedication, and care you show every day while helping students develop the skills they need to succeed in school and beyond.
💙 We appreciate all that you do for our students! 💙

#SCSUpdates | Good afternoon, Surry County Schools families. Surry County Schools wants to make you aware of a recent cybersecurity incident involving Canvas, the learning management system used by school districts and organizations across the country.
Canvas has informed districts that a criminal threat actor gained unauthorized access to certain account-related data associated with some organizations using the platform. At this time, Canvas has indicated there is no evidence that passwords, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, financial information, or government identification numbers were involved.
Canvas reports that the unauthorized access was identified and removed, the vulnerability has been addressed, and additional security protections have been implemented. The company is continuing to work with outside forensic experts, federal law enforcement, and cybersecurity agencies as the investigation continues.
At this time, we do not have an estimated timeline for when Canvas access will be restored. Our staff is working closely with state officials, Canvas, and technology partners to monitor the situation and determine any potential impact to Surry County Schools.
Schools and teachers will communicate alternative methods for assignments and classroom communication as needed while Canvas access remains unavailable.
We understand the importance of protecting student and staff information and will continue to provide updates as more verified information becomes available. Thank you for your patience and support.

We also want to thank Mrs. Queen and Mrs. Waters for providing dessert from Lorene’s for everyone to enjoy! We truly appreciate all of the kindness, generosity, and support shown to our teachers and staff this week!
