NATIONAL READ A BOOK DAY
National Read a Book Day is observed annually on September 6th. On August 9th, we all celebrated National Book Lovers Day. While these bookish days may seem similar, National Read a Book Day invites us ALL to grab a book we might enjoy and spend the day reading.

RES MET growth for the 2025–26 school year! We met growth in both reading and math, as well as in every student subgroup!
While this data is certainly not the only measure of our students’ success, it is a powerful reflection of the drive, dedication, and hard work each of you puts in every single day to ensure that every student gets what they need to grow and succeed.
This is a TEAM accomplishment. Thank you for believing in our students, pushing them to grow, and never giving up on them. Rockford is a special place because of the people who work here!

We were so excited to welcome Ms. Salina from the Dobson Public Library to Rockford Elementary today! She will be joining us every Wednesday to read to our students.
Today was her first visit, and Ms. O’s class had a wonderful time listening to some great books all about visiting the library! What a fun way to encourage a love of reading!

2026–2027 School Year Paperwork Reminder!
Parents, please take a few minutes to complete your child’s paperwork for the 2026–2027 school year. We currently have 57% of our paperwork completed, and we would love to get that number to 100%!
Infinite Campus – Parent Portal & Annual Update
The NCSIS/Infinite Campus Parent Portal allows parents to stay up to date with important communications from your child’s school, check grades, and more. Once your Parent Portal account is set up, you will be asked to complete your child’s Annual Update. This allows you to update contact information, emergency contacts, complete required annual agreements, and more.
If you set up an Infinite Campus Parent Portal account last year:
Log in to the Surry County Schools Infinite Campus Parent Portal:
https://860.ncsis.gov/campus/portal/parents/psu860surry.jsp
You will need the account information you used previously. If you forgot your password, select “Forgot Password.”
If you set up an account last year but cannot remember your user ID or no longer have access to the email used to create the account, please work with your child’s school during an Open House event.
If your child is new to Surry County Schools or you are enrolling a student for the first time:
