Please complete this form, making any corrections, sign it, and return it as soon as possible, even if your child is a car rider.

National Physical Fitness and Sports Month is celebrated in May. It is an initiative by the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition. Fitness isn’t just for professional athletes. As doctors and nutritionists will tell you, any physical movement is good for you.

Many people give up on their fitness goals early on due to misplaced notions of fitness. Every year in May, the council aims to dispel these myths. Exercise isn’t about the pounds you shed or the number of burpees you should be able to do. The key to an active, healthier lifestyle is consistency. No matter what you do, ensure you keep doing it, and while you’re at it, eat healthier and make better choices each day. The simplest things are the hardest to do. But this is the key to leading a happy and healthy life.

National School Principal Day 2026 is on Friday, May 1, 2026. It is an annual, dedicated day to honor the leadership, dedication, and vital role school principals and assistant principals play in student success and school culture across the United States

National Military Appreciation Month (NMAM) in May 2026 encourages Americans to honor, remember, and recognize the service and sacrifice of the U.S. Armed Forces, including veterans, active-duty members, and their families. Congress designated May to recognize the military, featuring several key observances, including Memorial Day, Armed Forces Day, and Military Spouse Appreciation Day.

Asian Pacific American Heritage Month is an annual, month-long celebration in May that recognizes the historical and cultural contributions of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders to the United States. It honors generations of individuals from these communities who have enriched American history, society, and achievements

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, recognized since 1949 to reduce stigma, educate the public, and provide support for mental health conditions. The 2026 campaign focuses on community support and well-being, often using green ribbons to symbolize awareness.

The month aims to raise awareness about mental health and wellness, celebrate recovery, and provide tools for those with mental health conditions and their communities. It aims to normalize conversations around mental health, reduce stigma, and promote early intervention.

The staff leader of the month for being an outstanding leader in showing respect is Deanne Fitzgerald. She is respectful to her coworkers and always lends a helping hand. She teaches respect to her students and holds students to high expectations, even in gym class. On Grow Strong, she encourages a running team that shows respect. When you respect your teammates, you create an environment where people aren't afraid to fail. This builds trust and motivation! Thank you, Deanne, for showing our Gators how to be great leaders!

This month, Thomas Oliver was drawn as our Student of the Month! Thomas was caught being a good leader and showing CHOMP by one of our staff members! Each month, students have the opportunity to show CHOMP and be turned into the office for a positive office referral. Thank you, Thomas, for always showing CHOMP and being a good example for friends!
